Introduce your group to Oliver!, Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera with our performance workshops, an innovative way of enriching your theatre visit.

Delfont Mackintosh Theatres Les Misérables workshop

Led by theatre professionals, through games, improvisation and scene building, students will gain an insight into the production, as well as developing team building, leadership and communication skills.

Workshops are suitable for school groups, drama clubs and out-of-school organisations. Encouraging active participation, there is no judgment, making our workshops suitable for all abilities, so tell us more about your group when booking, and we can tailor the delivery to the level of your students.

  • Oliver! Musical Theatre Workshop

    This energetic 90-minute workshop introduces students to the characters, themes and music of Oliver!. Through drama activities, movement and choreography, participants explore the experiences of Victorian London. Students then develop vocal and performance skills while learning extracts from the iconic songs Food, Glorious Food and Consider Yourself, culminating in a fun and engaging ensemble performance.

  • Les Misérables Drama Workshop

    In this hour-long workshop, students explore the key themes of Victor Hugo’s classic story. Participants discuss the conditions faced by those living in poverty in 1830s France, before creating a series of dramatic tableaus. A series of movement-based drama exercises then lead to recreating the final battle on the barricades.

    Cost: £250 | Suitable ages 12+ | Running time: 1 hour

  • Les Misérables Musical Theatre Workshop

    This 90-minute workshop leads students through improvised exercises, to group work developing character and dramatic scenes. A vocal session culminates in learning two musical numbers, 'At The End Of The Day' and 'Do You Hear The People Sing', as the group works towards re-creating the famous 'Barricade' scene.

  • The Phantom of the Opera Drama Workshop

    During this fascinating 60-minute movement workshop, students will learn what it takes to bring a haunting ghost story to life on stage. They will explore key aspects of performance such as creating soundscapes, building tension within the scene, character work, and storytelling through movement.

  • The Phantom of the Opera Musical Theatre Workshop

    During this 90-minute workshop, students explore how character, movement and storytelling are used to create the world of The Phantom of the Opera. With an introduction to vocal technique, students then learn music from the iconic 'Masquerade', as they create their own performance inspired by this breath-taking production.

  • FAQs

    • Prices stated are per workshop.

    • Minimum group size is 12, with a maximum of 40 participants.

    • Workshops are available Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

    • Workshops can only be purchased alongside tickets for the relevant production. They are not available as a standalone activity.

    • Prices above do not include a ticket for the show.

    • We require a teacher/leader to student ratio of 1:10. Teachers/leaders are required to encourage participation and monitor student behaviour.

    • Safeguarding responsibilities remain with the teachers/leaders in attendance.

    • Whilst workshops can be reserved for up to one month, they are not confirmed until payment is received.

    • Workshops are delivered in rehearsal spaces. Details will be confirmed at the time of enquiry.
