The Chinese Community Centre is proud to present East Meets West: Beijing Elderly Art Group with special guests The Zimmers
This unique occasion is to promote cultural exchange between the elderly artists from China, the Zimmers & the British public.
The programme includes Chinese songs and dances, Chinese customs display, marshal art demonstration, magician show and Chinese musical instrument solo performance. The finale of the show will be singing of ‘My Generation’ by the Beijing elderly Art Group and the Zimmers.

The Beijing Elderly Art Group was formed 5 years ago.  The members are drawn from many parts of northern China. They are old age pensioners. They have been invited to perform in many state occasions. They develop and promote cultural performances throughout China.
They established themselves as Chinese Cultural ambassador.  They have been invited to perform in Australia, France, etc.  Their performances impressed and admired by the audience wherever they performed.
Their contemporary artistic performances exemplify the spirit of the elderly generation and establish a cultural bridge with overseas artistic fraternities

The Zimmers are a British rock band made up of 40 old aged pensioners, whose ages range from 60 to 101 years old.
The Zimmers, with assistance from professionals, recorded the song ‘My Generation’ to expose the disgraceful ways we treat our old people in UK. ‘My Generation’ and the video were broadcasted on YouTube in 2007 and became the most popular video in the world.
The Zimmers have appeared on the BBC documentary programme and the CNBC Jay Leno Show on 8 and 10 June 2007.
At present the Zimmers is recording their second song ‘FireStarter’, due to be released soon.
