A DISAPPEARING NUMBERA DISAPPEARING NUMBER

NOVELLO THEATRE

Booking from: 10th-25th September 2010

A Disappearing Number is inspired by the true story of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and Cambridge Professor GH Hardy, who collaborated in the 1910s to make some of the most significant mathematical discoveries of the twentieth century. The play also tells the (fictional) story of a modern-day couple: mathematician Ruth and her husband Al.

A Disappearing Number is a big, beautiful show that moves seamlessly between the 1910s and 2010, between Chennai and Cambridge. To do this, the Company mixes groundbreaking video projections, sound and lighting with live tabla playing and dance, creating a completely unique type of theatre. There’s also original music by world-famous British-Indian musician NITIN SAWNHEY.
